Ace And Randy

AkiraAkira is a dual purpose patrol-narcotics detector Malinois. His new name is Ace because he is the first Malinois ever for King County. He will be working for the King Country Sheriff's Office in Washington. I donated Ace to the sheriff's office, my friend Randy's dog Scout is ready to retire and I had promised him Rudi another Malinois. Rudi ended up with Darryn a law enforement officer from the Federal Fish and Wildlife Service before Randy was ready for Scout to retire, so I gave him Akira instead. I was going to keep Akira for myself from this breeding, but I know Randy will do him right.

I'll be working Ace on bitework and narcotics over the coming months. Randy has been working him on tracking using the HITT method pioneered by Steve White. I'll be using my On Target boxes for his narcotics training and if he is anything like his brother Asterix it will only take me a couple of weeks to get him on all four odors. The bitework will be done using my own method which has proven to work quite well on other patrol K9s in the past as well as sport dogs.

I'll get some video posted as soon as I get it. I just saw Ace the other day and he looks great. Big and heavy boned with dark brown coloring and sweet as could be. He is going to make an impressive K9 and just his presense should stop most bad guys in their tracks.
