  • Clyde Fits In Fine In Utah

    Michael Breton - Sunday, 15 November 2009 01:19

dayoffJust got a couple of photos of Clyde and he looks like one happy dog. Brandon is working hard to be the best handler he can be. After hanging out with him for a while and seeing what an overachiever he is, I know he’ll be great at it. It’s so cool to see Clyde doing the job he was meant to do. He looks the part of a police K9 now and from all the reports I am getting he is acting the part as well. He sure has the relaxing on his day off part down. Clyde is a great dope dog, he loves to work and has a great nose. More important he is a smart dog, something I really look hard for in a dog. Drive is nice, drive you can harness is great. The word is his tracking is really coming along and his bite work is getting better at every session. I knew he could track, but wasn’t so sure on the bite work. I love to be proved wrong by one of my dogs. Take a look at Clyde dressed for work with his game face on. Now that is one good looking Sheriff K9. Clyde Read More

Capri Gets A Job As the First Waterfowl Detector Dog

    Michael Breton - Friday, 6 November 2009 11:04

I just shipped Capri off to Darryn from Fish and Wildlife. She is going to be his waterfowl detector dog and Rudi’s playmate. His son Eli is so jazzed about her, as technicaly Eli considers her to be his dog. Capri made the trip just fine and Eli is already lobbying for her to stay in his room. Bet he wins that one pretty quick. She’ll take a couple weeks to move from the detector boxes to an oral game and vehicle searches.  Darryn will be searching lots of boats and blinds and I just don’t have that kind of stuff here to work her on. Darryn knows what he’s doing so I’m sure Capri will do just fine. I’ll get some photos of her with her new family as soon as I can. Darryn promised to send some out to me via Facebook. His wife is yet to meet Capri, but at least she does know the dog is there. A strange malinois in your house can be quite the suprise. Good luck Capri, I’ll see you soon. I’m working on a patrol dog class for Darryn. Yeah, I know dogs can’t read, but she is a malinois and one can never rule anything out. Read More

    Back Home Again

    Michael Breton - Friday, 28 August 2009 11:28

Laying a Track For HomeI’m back in Washington again. Alpha K9 and Forest Top are working through some tough issues and everyone is having a bit of a hard time dealing with it. I have a family to take care of so they take priority and off I go. Not sure exactly what happened, probably never will, but life goes on. I met some great people while I was in Nebraska. I enjoyed my time there and wish everyone well. Many thanks to Mark who went out of his way to make me feel at home and even more important to get me out and about the area. Read More

Jake, Jeremy and Seth will be patroling Davis County, Utah with their new partners Dax a Malinois, J’ak also a Malinois and Mojo a Dutch Shepherd. All three of their dogs are dual-purpose patrol and detector dogs. Thanks guys for working so hard and making it such a great class. You can see video of the dogs and handlers on other posts. Mojo on a “Code 3″ takedown

    Michael Breton - Monday, 27 July 2009 11:00

Here is Mojo coming after me one night while we were practicing code 3 apprehensions. He was coming too high on the arm and way fast and as a result, missed me or flew off the bite. We worked on it for a bit and this was the end result. Center mass right in the back. Nice job Mojo and Seth. [ Get the Flash Player to see this player. ] Read More
