Laying a Track For HomeI’m back in Washington again. Alpha K9 and Forest Top are working through some tough issues and everyone is having a bit of a hard time dealing with it. I have a family to take care of so they take priority and off I go. Not sure exactly what happened, probably never will, but life goes on. I met some great people while I was in Nebraska. I enjoyed my time there and wish everyone well. Many thanks to Mark who went out of his way to make me feel at home and even more important to get me out and about the area. Read More

    Celine Goes Tracking

    Michael Breton - Wednesday, 12 August 2009 10:04

celinetrackingyariCeline went tracking with me today out at the turf farm. We are lucky enough to have access to the fields at Fast Grass for our tracking. They are huge and always in good shape, which makes it easy for us to teach the dogs how to track. In the photo Celine is tracking Yari, a Belgian Malinois that has been tracking for about three weeks. Tracking is a great way to decompress and enjoy a nice walk with a dog.  The bonus is you are actually working, and working the dog at the same time. All while taking a walk out in nature. I really enjoy tracking. I was able to spend time with Celine, teaching her how to lay tracks and work the dogs, so that made it even better. Read More

Protection Day With Sioux City, and Cass County Sheriffs

    Michael Breton - Friday, 7 August 2009 01:37

mooseI worked dogs from Cass County and Sioux City this afternoon. Jay’s dog just won the Police K9 Nationals and he was ready to step up his protection. Rob wanted to work on Moose’s grips and Mark, well he thinks his dog is perfect. Jay’s dog is young and really nice and clear. We are going to work on his grips and attitude, but I see great things in the future for this dog. Rob’s dog had some problems with grips a couple sessions ago. We already had one session and made a lot of progress in just that one session. From the video you can see Moose is constantly driving into me and has virtually no problems with physical contact or pressure. Marks dog turned out to be ticklish, but I doubt anyone will have time to tickle him if he is on a bite. I included some new toys in the training, the clatter stick, a milk bottle full of rocks and water. All of the dogs had clean heads when we were done. I’ll get video up of the other two dogs, but here is Moose working me over. Read More
